Jolted Sweet and Salty Nuts

With the holidays fast approaching, it’s time to get your food making A game on. With all of the parties, hosting, and gathering you’ll be doing, you are bound to be asked or tasked with having to make a variety of goodies. One of my favorite things to make is homemade toasted nuts. They ALWAYS taste 100% better than what you could buy in a package, are easy to make, and are something you can get super creative with! I highly recommend bringing them or putting them out for your next shindig.

This recipe will give you a jolt because it features ground espresso. The espresso is paired with cocoa, honey, and salt giving it a savory/salty/sweet flavor that enhances the toasty crunch of the nut. Yum!

Jolted Sweet and Salty Nuts ?

  • 1 tsp. grape seed oil
  • 1/2 c. mixed raw nuts
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 1 tsp finely ground espresso
  • 1/2 tsp. cocoa powder
  • Salt to taste

In a cast iron skillet, heat up a tsp of grapeseed oil, over medium low heat and add the nuts. Stir the nuts around until they become a deep golden to dark brown color without burning. Remove from heat and place in a mixing bowl. Add the rest of the ingredients while the nuts are still warm to ensure that the honey spreads evenly. Double or triple the measurements if you need a bigger portion. Enjoy!
